For Honor's dedicated servers will go live on PC later this month

    By IrishAceKavo,

Season five, Age of Wolves, begins next week.

Dedicated servers will roll out to Ubisoft's hack-and-slash brawler For Honor on February 19, just over a year after its initial launch, and four days after the start of the game's fifth season, Age of Wolves. They'll only be available for the PC version of the game at first, but will come to consoles "soon after."

The coming of dedicated servers was first announced in July 2017, but Ubisoft moved slowly with implementation "to ensure a smooth transition" to the new infrastructure. Ubisoft said the full launch will "fully remove the session migrations as well as the NAT requirements while eliminating most of the resyncing, resulting in a more stable experience and improved matchmaking." Once the system is proven stable on PC (the downside of being first is that we also get to be the test monkeys), Ubi will bring it to other platforms.

"Changing the online infrastructure while the game was live was a challenge, but a decisive step in improving the game experience of our players," game director Damien Kieken said. "The implementation of the dedicated servers gives us confidence in the direction the game is taking and will pave the way for a full year of continued support and new contents."

Dedicated servers is the big hook in Age of Wolves but it will also see the addition of ranked play, an overhaul of five of the game's heroes, new training modes, and a three-week event with special rewards for players who take part. Ubisoft will reveal the details in a livestream scheduled for 1 am PT/2 pm ET today, February 8, on Twitch—embedded for your convenience below.

Battlefield 2018: Release Date, WW2 and Bad Company game rumours for new EA PS4, Xbox, PC

    By IrishAceKavo,

EA has revealed it'll be shipping a new Battlefield game in 2018 - but what sort of shooter will it be?

Battlefield 2018: Release Date, WW2 and Bad Company game rumours for new EA PS4, Xbox, PC

EA has announced it will be releasing a new Battlefield game in 2018, as its other big shooter - Anthem - slips to 2019's launch window.

This will make it two years since a Battlefield launch - Battlefield 1 released in fall 2016 - but details are pretty thin on the ground about what kind of game this proposed shooter will be.

    Battlefield 2018 - Release Date
The only information we have about Battlefield's release date so far is that the game will be coming out late this year.

The earnings call from EA stated the game would see a Q3 release this year - if you look back at previous Battlefield games, you'll see Battlefield 1 got launched on 21 October and Battlefield 4.

Does that hint at a potential release day? Maybe, but then you have to remember Rockstar recently announced Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch on October 26... so we imagine most other publishers are going to want to steer well clear of that.

Is it Battlefield Bad Company 3?
We do know, however, that this game will not be an entry in the Battlefield Bad Company series - and this all starts with some rumours coming from YouTube.

Last year, reports circulated about a new Battlefield game in development courtesy of Battlefield YouTuber TheAlmightyDaq.

TheAlmightyDaq accurately predicted a lot of information about Battlefield 1 ahead of its release, leading to many sites trusting his reportage.

He reported that Battlefield: Bad Company 3 was in development last year, but later he uploaded another video claiming there were two Battlefield games in development - rather than just one.

Daq reports that the Bad Company 3 game will launch in 2019, developed by DICE LA who are responsible for a lot of the post-launch Battlefield 1 content.

The 2018 Battlefield offering will instead be a World War 2 game from DICE Sweden - main developers of the franchise - and will be a spiritual sequel to Battlefield 1.

According to Eurogamer, the rumoured Battlefield Bad Company 3 game will be set in a "mid and post-Vietnam conflict" setting, and game modes will include Conquest, Rush, Operations, Domination and Team Deathmatch.

As per the series so far, the game will also include 'era-appropriate' guns.

In terms of gameplay, Engineer, Support, Assault and Recon classes are rumoured to return, alongside helicopters, LAVs, modern tanks and more besides.

It seems pretty clear that there are two Battlefield projects in development, but depending on what studio is working on which game, we could see an announcement of Bad Company of Battlefield WW2

Fortnite surfaces from 14-hour downtime with building and ADS bugs, applies PC patch

    By IrishAceKavo,

    Epic wait.

In preparation for its v2.3.0 update, Fortnite: Battle Royale nipped offline around noon UK-time yesterday. Behind-the-scenes database issues meant it didn't return for 14 hours, and when it did, it came bearing bugs tied to reloading, key binding, building UI, and untoggle-able ADS (aim down sight).

"Whoops! Some bugs were introduced with this weeks patch," said Epic in this forum post. "We’re aware of these and working hard towards a fix. We will update everyone once we have more information on when that fix is coming."

A minor PC patch has since been rolled out that targets key bindings on AZERTY/FR keyboards, while Epic expects to resolve the remaining issues over the course of the day.

As for the update itself, it addresses a host of other bug fixes—not least the accuracy of grenade arcs, which will give my wayward aim no excuses from hereon—and introduces the new Chug Jug consumable. Here's how that looks:

And here's Epic on what it's all about: "Low HP? No Shields? Enemies all around? Give yourself a fighting chance with the all-new Chug Jug! Find a safe place to Chug this Jug for 15 seconds and gain max Health and Shields."

Check out update v2.3.0's full patch notes this-a-way.
